The Iraqi Academics Syndicate, Karbala branch, hosted a dialogue seminar at the University of Karbala to discuss the new draft of scientific promotion instructions scheduled to be approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The seminar, which was organized by the Karbala branch of the Academics Syndicate in cooperation with the College of Law, was attended by the President of the University, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, and his assistants for administrative and scientific affairs, Professor Dr. Jassim Eidan Al-Maamouri and Professor Dr. Haider Muhammad Imran, in addition to the head of the Academics Syndicate branch, Dr. Munir Al-Dami, and a member of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, Dr. Firas Al-Muslimawi, and the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. SalaThe m Jaafar Al-Asadi, and several deans of colleges, professors and university employees.
Al-Maslamawi stated during his speech that “the project will be subject to many amendments, including exempting humanities specializations from the (h-index) index,” noting that “the new instructions will be postponed and will not enter into force at present, contrary to what was reported by the media.”
Al-Maslamawi added that the parliamentary education committee is making the necessary amendments to the project to serve the educational process and close the doors to commercial magazines.
For his part, the university’s assistant president for scientific affairs, Dr. Haider Muhammad Imran, explained that “the financial challenge is one of the most prominent challenges facing instructors, in addition to the lack of universities of the necessary laboratories that can be relied upon in research.”
Imran stressed the importance of enhancing the status of local scientific journals that raise the university’s global ranking.
