Tourism Supply and Demand
Number of children in the family. The more children in a family, the less tourism demand and vice versa, while other factors remain constant. The large number of children increases the responsibility and obligations of the head of the family, in addition to the factor
costs.
Profession: There are some professions that require frequent travel, such as professional athletes, senior businessmen, journalists, etc., and there are jobs that provide their owners with a large income that qualifies them to undertake tourist trips, such as famous doctors, major merchants and industrialists, etc.
On the other hand, there are jobs that restrict their owners and stand as an obstacle in particular to foreign tourism, as is the case with senior military personnel and workers in sensitive professions, where difficult restrictions are imposed on their travel outside the country in some countries.
What helps with this is technological development and the possibility of replacing the work element with machines, as it generates sufficient free time for the workforce. Communities aim to relieve the burden on workers and provide them with enough free time to invest in recreational and tourist activities and events. Several types of vacations have emerged, including: paid vacations with full pay, vacations with half pay, and vacations without pay. Long-term vacations are usually granted in the summer season to achieve compatibility between free time and the peak tourist season. There is also a relatively long vacation in the Western world granted on Christmas and New Year’s, which continues to practice winter tourism.
