In Basra, there are a number of blessed graves and shrines that many tourists seek to visit:
1. The shrine of Al-Hasan Al-Basri: He is Al-Hasan bin Abi Al-Hasan Al-Basri, the master of the followers (may God be pleased with him), who died in the year (110 AH – 728 AD) and was buried in this cemetery that was named after him and which is still used for burial in Al-Zubair. The shrine is square in shape and built of bricks with a conical dome on top of which are rows of muqarnas, and it is decorated from the inside with muqarnas that resemble beehives. The architecture of this shrine is similar to the architecture of the shrine of Zamrud Khatun in Baghdad, and it was built by Directorate of Antiquities to restore and maintain it.
2. The grave of Halima al-Sadia and next to it the grave of her son, the infant of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and over it a dome in the Zubair cemetery.
The grave of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), the servant of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), which is six miles away near Wadi al-Sibaa to the north of the city of Zubair.
3. The grave of Muhammad bin Sirin and the grave of Muhammad bin Wasi’ and the grave of Utbah al-Alam and the grave of Malik bin Dinar and the grave of Habib al-Ajami and the grave of Sahl bin Abdullah al-Tastari and all of these graves are in the Zubair cemetery inside the old wall of Basra and over each of them is a dome.
Near the north of the mosque is the Imam Ali Mosque (peace be upon him), which has a dome, a mosque, and corners with food for those coming and going. In addition, there is the Museum of Ancient and Islamic Antiquities, and (Adam’s Tree), which is located (74) km from the city center, from the city of Qurna. It is a Sidra tree mentioned in myths and in popular memory as the cradle of life on earth and the place where Adam and Eve, peace be upon them, met and stayed. It is a haven for tourists from all over the world, and the Abbasid Library of the (Bash Aayan) family, which is one of the libraries that attracts the attention of those interested in books and scientific research in its various branches and fields. It is one of the old libraries that dates back to more than (400) years and is considered the largest, richest and most extensive library in terms of what it contains of manuscripts in various sciences and arts, some of which are rare.
