President of Karbala University inaugurates the Department of Travel and Aviation Services at the College of Tourism Sciences

The President of Karbala University, Prof. Sabah Wajid Ali, inaugurated the Department of Travel and Aviation Services at the College of Tourism Sciences, in a new step aimed at enhancing academic education in fields related to the tourism and aviation sector.

During the opening ceremony, the President of the University, Prof. Sabah Wajid, stressed that “the opening of this important department is one of the most important steps in implementing the visions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research aimed at improving the educational outcomes at our university.” He added that “the College of Tourism Sciences is one of the leading colleges at the University of Karbala, and the Department of Travel and Aviation Services will play a pivotal role in providing the labor market with specialized human competencies in air ports, especially with the imminent opening of Karbala International Airport, which requires highly qualified professional cadres.”

For his part, the Dean of the College of Tourism Sciences, Dr. Salam Al-Asadi, indicated that “the Department of Travel and Aviation Services represents a qualitative shift towards enhancing the college’s position as a source of science and knowledge, and is the culmination of continuous efforts made by the college for a long time, in addition to a strategic vision aimed at keeping pace with the developments of the era and meeting the needs of the labor market.” Al-Asadi explained that “the opening of the department came thanks to the continuous efforts of specialists who have a long history in building the general policy for the tourism sector.”

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of deans of the university’s colleges, as well as lecturers and students, who expressed their enthusiasm for this great progress in the field of tourism education.
