Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence

Despite the positives of artificial intelligence, there are a number of challenges facing organizations when using artificial intelligence technologies, namely:

Lack of a clear strategy for artificial intelligence
Lack of talents with appropriate skills for artificial intelligence work
Isolated work environments (solo work)
Lack of enthusiasm among leaders for the idea of artificial intelligence and commitment to it
Lack of technological infrastructure to support artificial intelligence
Lack of available data
Uncertain expectations or low sponsorship of investments in artificial intelligence

Despite the previous advantages and characteristics of using artificial intelligence technologies, some believe that the expansion of artificial intelligence applications may lead significantly to a weakening of reliance on the human element in the future, as the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence may lead to the loss of many jobs that were considered exclusively human jobs.

Data from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs indicate that by 2050 the world population is expected to reach 908 billion people, more than six billion of whom will be of working age. In the meantime, there will be a search for job opportunities for about 7 million young people around the world, and this is one of the reasons why new technology is considered a major threat to the labor markets. In a study published in this regard and presented at the Davos Forum in 2018, it was indicated that 1.4 million jobs in the United States alone are threatened by new technologies by 2026, and that 47% of the threatened jobs will be transformed into computer-managed jobs (Khalifa, 2019: 35).

Despite the expected decline in the number of jobs needed by the world, they will not end completely. The use of artificial intelligence and robots may lead to a recovery in the employment market, as companies focus on new areas of production after assigning lesser professions to artificial intelligence, while new types of jobs available in the digital economy will require technical skills or social intelligence. Therefore, raising the skill level of the workforce will be crucial in dealing with this transformation, and thus new jobs will emerge in all sectors, such as algorithm manager, data analyst, and others.
