The sanctuary of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him)

Ahmed Majed Badawi Hamza
Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Abd Ali Kazim Al-Fatlawi

This shrine is located north of the city of Samawah, about (4 km) on the right side of Shatt Al-Atashan, one of the branches of the Euphrates River. The area was named after it. It is an agricultural area famous for growing palm groves and various crops surrounding the shrine. This shrine is a recreational outlet for most families of the residents of the central region of the city of Samawah during holidays, feasts, and religious occasions, as families wander between the palm groves and crop fields spread around the shrine. There are also some tiny kiosks selling soft drinks, sweets, food, and visitation supplies such as incense, candles, perfumes, rose water, colored fabrics, and others that represent the flags of proof in fulfilling vows.
