College of Tourism Sciences Organizes a Training Course on Antiquities and Their Role in Supporting the Development of Tourism in Iraq
The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Tourism Sciences at the University of Karbala organized a training course on antiquities and their role in supporting and developing tourism in Iraq, which was lectured by the lecturers from the College of Education for Humanities: Dr. Hussein Karim Hamidi, Assistant Lecturer Elaf Abdul Hassan Abdullah, and Assistant Lecturer Maha Nazim Aziz.
The course, which targeted college students, included three axes: The first axis addressed the historical and cultural importance of antiquities and the mechanism of employment as a tourism resource; the second axis presented strategies for developing archaeological areas and the most prominent challenges facing them, and the third axis was about training and qualifying cadres to achieve integration between antiquities and tourism infrastructure.
The three-day course aimed to illuminate the importance of antiquities and how to care for and preserve them, as well as explain their central role in activating and developing the tourism sector in Iraq.
