Proverbs touched on every small and big thing in the course of life, and what we inherited from our past people, and what remained steadfast in harmony with the language of the advanced era. The first of our people – as is the case with all peoples – took care of proverbs and memorized them. They reached us through the train of continuous reminders with experience and daily work, to be entrenched in the individual’s mind from generation to generation. We find proverbs in their classical language sometimes, and other times in the colloquial or colloquial dialect, but despite that, the real goal of proverbs remains to show the essence of experiences. Proverbs summarize for us the experiences of peoples and their practices in the field of life in an expressive way that clarifies morals and customs, and depicts values and customs, in short, well-represented sentences, close to the mind, and hit the target in explaining and analyzing the situation. The Holy Quran has used proverbs, and the linguistic dictionaries have explained the word to take its place in the heritage and literature of peoples. We must begin this series by looking at the Holy Quran; to know the role that the Holy Verses have highlighted for us in this regard, and what is the lesson and consideration that the Holy Quran has brought to us; to be a roadmap in the ethics of our Islamic and life dealings, the method of human social relations, and the principle of cultural exchange between people. The word (parables) has been mentioned in the Holy Quran (10) times, which are:
1. And as for that which benefits people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allah present parables. {Ar-Rad/17}.
2. It yields its fruit at all times by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents parables for the people that perhaps they will be reminded. {Ibrahim/25}.
3. And you dwelt in the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We dealt with them, and We presented to you examples. {Ibrahim/45}.
4. So do not make examples for Allah. Indeed, Allah knows, while you do not know. {An-Nahl/74}.
5. See how they have made examples for you, but have gone astray and are unable to find a way. {Al-Isra/48}.
6. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things. {An-Nur/35}.
7. See how they present examples for you, but have gone astray and cannot find a way. {Al-Furqan/9}.
8. And for each We presented examples, and each We destroyed with utter destruction. {Al-Furqan/39}.
9. And these examples We present to the people, but none will grasp them except those of knowledge. {Al-Ankabut/43}.
10. If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought. {Al-Hashr/21}.
The word (for example) was mentioned in the Holy Quran (22) times:
1. Indeed, Allah is not ashamed to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is larger than that. As for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, “What did Allah intend by this as an example?” He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not thereby except the defiantly disobedient. {Al-Baqarah/26}.
2. An evil example is the people who deny Our signs and wrong themselves. {Al-Araf/177}.
3. The parable of the two parties is like that of the blind and the deaf and the seeing and the hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Then will you not remember? {Hud/24}.
