Tourism Education (2)

The concept of education in general is usually given to the study or formal education that the young individual receives in schools and universities, which provides him with the information and knowledge that helps him face life and qualifies him to enter practical life. Education is the basic foundation on which the process of forming and developing skills is built through its contribution to forming specialists and skilled workers through their learning in institutes, vocational schools and universities.

As for tourism education, it is a specialization in all its types (vocational, technical and higher tourism) because through it the individual is provided with the information and knowledge that helps in the tourism and hotel industry and builds the basic foundation for forming tourism and hotel skills through forming specialists and skilled people and qualifying them to work in tourism facilities and hotel establishments (3).

Tourism training works to increase the degree of specialization among individuals working in the tourism and hotel sector by providing them with various information and skills that raise efficiency and improve their performance and master their specific work in hotel establishments.

Because tourism is an industry, it needs someone who is proficient in this industry, i.e. a skilled tourism or hotel worker who knows how to deal with the tourist or provide him with services, and a good tourist guide and administrator. The tourism employee is no longer an employee who has a desire to work, general information and good treatment, but rather tourism or hotel work requires specialized training that qualifies this employee to assume the responsibilities that fall on his shoulders in the field of tourism.

Therefore, attention must focus on the quality of education and training and on the integrated personality that has the ability to face changes and adapt to future requirements, and to emphasize the importance of training accompanying education and repeated at different levels in order to feed the tourism development sectors with the capabilities and advanced skills they need. Here we must distinguish between two types of tourism professions as well as the titles in tourism education:
The first type of tourism professions includes (travel agencies, guides, guides, tourism planner, tourism marketing, ………etc.).
The second type is hotel professions (including housing procedures, front office, hotel management, food production, hospitality, food and beverage service) (1).
