The Role of Sports in Tourism Promotion

 

Sports tourism provides wide opportunities to practice sports activities, especially those that require special equipment and capabilities in their preparation, whether they exploit natural or manufactured capabilities.

As for sports from a tourism perspective, it satisfies the desires of individuals and makes them frequent places that fulfill these desires and prolong their stay there and makes them enjoy, as the philosophy of sports tourism is two sides of the same coin. The first side is tourism promotion in the off-season and the second side is activating a specific sport and exploiting it in the off-season touristically and attracting fans of that sport.

Therefore, the emergence of this new trend to market tourism through sports activities under the name of sports tourism is important as one of the most important reasons for tourist attraction, marketing and promotion of national tourism.

Many countries have achieved distinction in implementing this trend in tourism promotion by benefiting from sports in achieving a new tourism product, and they have made good use of it and presented it as one of the factors of tourist attraction.

Because athletes and those interested in various sports move from one place to another in pursuit of Participating in a national competition, following it, or following its champions competing to satisfy sporting desires, which expresses tourism in its simplest definitions.[1]
