Schools in the Holy City of Karbala‍

Since the holy city of Karbala enjoys the love and respect of Muslims in general and followers of the Household of the Prophet (peace be upon them) in particular, the hearts of Muslims turned towards this city, where hundreds of thousands of loyalists and lovers were present to have the honor of visiting the lofty shrine of my master and lord Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Many scholars, jurists, writers, and poets established religious and scientific schools from which thousands of students graduated, who later became prominent religious and scientific men. The following are the most important and famous of these schools:‍
1- Sardar Hassan Khan School:‍
It is a significant religious school located near the holy Husseini shrine. Its founding dates back to the year 1180 AH. Many prominent scholars graduated from it, including Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, the peacemaker Sheikh Sharif al-Ulama, and other scholars and figures. (Al-Tuma, 202: 1983)‍
2- Mirza Karim Shirazi School:‍
It was established in the year (1870 AD), and a group of distinguished scholars taught there. The media and distinguished preachers, including the famous Husseini preacher Sheikh Abdul Zahraa Al-Kaabi, the scholar Sheikh Muhammad Ali Al-Khaliq, and others. (Zamizam, 41: 2018)‍
3- Al-Mahdiyya School:‍
It was founded by Sheikh Mahdi Sheikh Ali Jaafar Kashf Al-Ghita in the year (1867 AD), and it was a model school where private dormitories were built for students. (Encyclopedia of Karbala Civilization, 39: 2020)‍
4- Ahmed bin Fahd Al-Hilli School: It is located on the street of Qibla Imam Al-Hussein (peace be upon him), where the scholar and Sheikh Ahmed bin Fahd Al-Hilli Al-Asadi is located. It was founded by the scholar Ibn Fahd Al-Hilli, who died in the year 841 AH. Students of different nationalities attended it. It includes a mosque for prayer and private housing for students. 5- Imam Al-Baqir School (peace be upon him):‍
It is one of the religious schools of Karbala, where a group of students of religious sciences studied. It was managed by Mr. Imad Al-Din Al-Bahrani in the year (1381). Its location is in the Bab Al-Khan neighborhood near the courtyard, and a public library was established there. The activities of this school include holding parties on religious occasions.
