The Concept of Tourism Development

Tourism development is one of the most important processes that must be taken care of in tourist attraction areas. Since tourism is a sustainable source of attraction, it must be developed continuously.

There are several definitions that explain the concept of tourism development. (Al-Khouri) defined it as the activities and events that aim to satisfy human needs directly or indirectly by investing in available tourism resources and ensuring increasing rates of growth (1).

As for (Haddad), he defined it as a process that seeks to push the factors of production in the tourism sector towards growth at a faster rate than its natural growth rate by using and making maximum use of the components of building tourism, whether human or natural, and then using them in the best way to develop the tourism services provided (2).

Al-Ruby also defined it as the process that leads to the use and investment of tourism resources to improve the way of life [1] (3).

As for (Hanna), he defined it as a vital and dynamic activity that changes and affects the behavior and actions of the individual, with an impact on society as a result of the individual’s contact with the cultures of others, and with a very important economic impact (4).
